Center of Studies
Experiential Hands On Learning in Costa Rica
The Osa Institute is an international education and experience provider and biological research station. Our center of studies is found in Agujas, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Since 2011 we have provided affordable, valuable, positively impactful programs, and short and long-term study abroad programs that enable participants to enhance both personal and community development as well as achieve various academic endeavors while providing opportunities and lessons that build interpersonal, time-management, problem-solving, and adaptability skills that will aid in future career development.

Our institute is conveniently located between the Corcovado National Park and Piedras Blancas National Park in the Forrestal Reserve of the Sweet Gulf (Golfo Dule) on the Osa Peninsula known as “The most biologically intense place on earth”- National Geographic. All of these attributes make our station an excellent option to conduct biological and ecological field research with us in this remote corner of Costa Rica which harbors 2.5% of the biodiversity of the entire planet in less than a thousandth of a percent of its total surface area.
Our facility offers a center of studies for a wide range of disciplines for both university credit-seeking and non-credit seeking students, volunteers, interns, civil scientists, field courses, student groups, researchers, teachers, conservation trips and other visitors.

Universities- This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn outside of the four walls of a typical classroom through experiential hands-on learning. Set your university apart from others by offering students the opportunity to earn credits towards their degree, complete required hours, fulfill the global citizen/international experience requirement, or complete an upper-level Independent Research Study or Internship/Capstone while studying abroad in Costa Rica. Credits are given through a US based university which includes an online curriculum with documented course work which students use to transfer-in credits upon completion.

Faculty & Professors- Bring your class to the Osa. Our field education program offers a unique opportunity for experiential learning in the tropics. Bring a class or educational group for a chance to get students out of their comfort zone, try new things, and experience the diverse wildlife and ecosystems of the Osa Peninsula.
Conduct fieldwork and research investigations with us. The Osa is a field biologist’s dream. With over 140 species of mammals and more tree species than all the northern temperate regions combined, Osa is the perfect place to conduct field research in a diverse array of disciplines.
